Sustainable power by students

The first student project in Norway uniting power production and technical aid. Let’s close the electricity access gap!

Our mission is to design and build a green and sustainable power system that can be used by people without permanent access to power.

Uniting students to create the energy solutions of tomorrow

In 2020 four students started investigating if it was possible to start a student project at NTNU where both technology and humanitarian aid were key. Even though NTNU already encompasses a student body with high engagement in technological projects, there was no project that combined humanitarian aid and technology. With great interest in the idea, from both students and faculties at NTNU, GridVille was born.

We want to contribute to solving the following problems

Access to electricity

709 million people live without direct access to electricity

More renewable energy

Only 17% of total energy consumption in developing countries is covered by renewable energy sources

Help where it’s needed

Financial support for the development of renewable energy in developing countries is increasing, but only 12% of this support goes to the countries that need it most.
